Ellis Appraisal District Board of Directors Place 1
The Ellis County Appraisal Board of Directors Place 1 is a brand-new elected position that will allow for additional oversight, transparency and accountability of the Appraisal District to the taxpayer.
Duties include:
*Adopt district's annual operating budget
*Contract for necessary services
*Hire the chief appraiser and assign responsibilities to the position
*Make general policy regarding the operation of the appraisal district
*Appoint the taxpayer liaison office
According to Representative Paul Bettencourt, the law’s author, “this is designed for adults to work, be good board members and listen to taxpayers”. If individual people are running to do something else, they’re running for the wrong job.
Beverly knows the value of being connected. That's why she is running for this position.
Help her, help you.
Beverly is a native Texan and has lived in Ellis County over 36 years. She has served on the Ellis County Appraisal Review Board. She will be a voice for YOU, the taxpayer/property owner.

Other service in my community
I’m an active member in my church.
As an active Grassroots Political Activist, you can find me participating in local city festivals and parades to promote the Republican Party or supporting a candidate (local, state, federal), or registering new voters. Or maybe at a City Council meeting to testify in support or against important issues. When the Texas Legislature is in session, I make many trips to Austin to advocate on important issues for Ellis County. I also participate on federal issues by calling and emailing our representatives in Washington.
When the Honorable Judge Bob Carroll appointed me to the Appraisal Review Board, I identified some issues that concerned me and worked to help implement some changes for the better. In 2023, a bill was passed in the 88th legislative session that added three elected positions to the Board of Directors for Ellis County. I saw an opportunity to be a voice for the property owner/taxpayer which I feel is missing in the protest process.
I love my community and I want to serve to the best of my ability to represent the people in it well.
There is a need to improve the communication system for the property owner/taxpayer to voice their issues regarding property values and issues that arise.
If elected, top priorities during my term
1. Tackle how to improve the district’s customer service and make the appeals process simpler for property owner/taxpayer.
2. Hold the Appraisal District fiscally accountable by examining the budget and clarify issues that may not be clear, and assure they are adhering to their contracts.
3. Build trust between the property owner/taxpayer and the district through transparency, oversight, and accountability.
4. Ensure fair, equitable, and uniform appraisals.
5. Ensure that citizens protesting their appraisals feel that they are treated fairly.
About me
I voted for Republican candidates ever since I was old enough to vote, and I’ve voted in just about every election.
I’ve worked since I was 14 years old and retired in 2013. During my working years, I chose to focus on my career and my family. I was involved very much with my children in their school activities.
Once I retired, I felt that it was time to serve my community. I started going to monthly meetings of the Ellis County GOP and the Ellis County Republican Women. Then I decided to get involved more.
I was honored by being chosen to serve as a Delegate for the 2022 & 2024 Republican Party State Convention. We vote on the party’s platform and priorities. We also vote for the Party Chair and Vice Chair.
I spend many hours away from my family volunteering in service to my community trying to make this world a better place for my family and yours!
I would be honored to earn your vote and serve as your voice on the Board of Directors.
Early Voting is June 3-8 and June 10-11
Election Day is June 15, 2024
